OUR BUS TRIP ON THE 12TH APRIL WHAT A GREAT DAY.
I have been told by a very enthusiastic member that it was the best bus trip so far. I was very pleased to hear that, but what do I do for the next one !!

What a beautiful day weather wise it was for our first bus trip. Jim Grieve our driver especially requested he get the job driving for us for the day. What a great recommendation that is.

All the pick ups went smoothly with only minor delays. We had a quiz sheet to fill out on the way up to Toowoomba to keep the bored ones busy.

We arrived at Darby and Sue's garden to the delight of everyone. What a great garden. It is situated on approximately 3 to 4 acre of land. Beautifully landscaped with structured gardens outside and leading into evermore wonderful gardens to the rear of the block. One member (the enthusiastic one above) was heard to say that she was in Wonderland. It really was a sight to be seen and only the photos can really tell the tale. There were Cactus and Succulents to the delight of all.

Sales were busy, and the cup of tea/coffee went down very well. Thanks to Nom for providing all of the makings for that. It certainly was a great garden and one I am sure that many members will want to revisit some other time.

12.00 p.m. saw us all back on the bus for the downhill trip to Regency Downs to the garden of Gary and Connie Pittman. I don't know about anyone else but I was ravenous by the time we got there and first thing was a cold drink and something to eat.

This also was a great garden situated on 1 1/2 acres of land. The gardens were nicely landscaped with a host of palms, cycads, cordylines and other tropical plants with the ground cover of a multitude of potted bromeliads. A lot of these plants were in garden situations were they received hot sunny conditions and they had adapted extremely well.

Gold Coast members from the area Norma Poole and Patricia Perratt were there together with Len and Olive Trevor, and also Ruth and Bev who are the field day co-ordinators for the Queensland Bromeliad Soc. It was great to see our Editor Gail and Margaret there also for the trip.

Thanks were given to the owners of both gardens and after a very big day out we made our way home - a lot of very tired people on board.

Hope to see you all on the next planned trip.

Narelle.
