Events itinerary
for the

Gold Coast Succulent and Bromeliad Society

Events itinerary, contacts, times etc.,

This is our first bus trip for the year and will be a little different in that we will be heading west for a change.
After our pick-up points, we are going to the Cactus & Succulent garden owned by Darby and Sue at Highfields Toowoomba.

This will be a very interesting bus trip. I have spoken to quite a few people who have visited Darby and Sue's cactus and succulent garden at Highfields, Toowoomba and they have spoken with rave reviews.

Our second garden visit will be to Gary and Connie Pittman's at 1 Benjamin Court, Regency Downs.

We will be using another bus company - Surfers Paradise Coaches. I do not know if they have this on the side of the bus. It was decided in consultation with the bus company to make the first pick up point at Tugan. I apologize for the inconvenience, but hope you can make it on to Tugan for the pick up there.

Bus pick up points are as follows.
7.00a.m. Tugan - This pick up point is on the service road parallel to the highway approximately 200 mts. south of the Shell Service Station.
The park is called Rotary Park. There is suitable off street parking in a small car park area.
7.10a.m. Robina Railway Station.
Bus stop is on the eastern side of the railway station. This is where we have picked up previously at Robina. Car parking is available.
7.30 a.m. B.P. Service Station, Coomera.
Please gather outside McDonalds restaurant as there are picnic tables for waiting. Car parking is available.

These are all our usual pick up points.
It is difficult to allow time for delays. These are estimated pick up times. Please be patient if there is an unforeseen delay.

If we have new members coming along on the trip please allow yourself ample time to find the location and please endeavor to be on time. My mobile on the day is 0418193628. If you have any problems please ring me.

Members will need to B.Y.O. lunch and coffee cup would be appreciated. You may like to bring a fold up chair if you think you will need one. The society will provide tea coffee sugar milk and biscuits.

There will be plant sales available at both locations and if members are intending to purchase plants, named carry bags or boxes would be handy to store plants on the bus. It is the responsibility of members to secure their own plants safely.

This should be a great day out. I hope members attending have a great day of fun and fellowship.

Narelle.

Our first field day for 2008 will commence at Mark and Julie Kurtev's garden, at 49 Ingles Circuit, Arundel, at 9.30 a.m.

The next garden/nursery will be to Bruce Williams at 12 Heritage Drive, Mt. Nathan.
We have visited Bruce's nursery on a previous occasion and he has been good enough to welcome us back.
Bruce will have plants for sale on the day in the sales area.
He has a lovely spot, on a flat down near the river, where we will have lunch.

After lunch we will go to Ray and Joan Prince's garden at 89 Trentbridge Court, Mt. Nathan.
Ray is a personal friend of Bruce and Joy Williams and has kindly opened his garden to us.
They has had three open gardens through the Australian Open Garden Scheme.
Recently had the Brisbane Historical Gardens Society visit.
They won Grand Champion in the Gold Coast City Council Garden Competition.
Ray and Joan have water features throughout the garden. Ray will be on the A.B.C. Gardening Australia Programme on Saturday 2 February at 6.3- p.m. and Sunday 3 February at 1.00 p.m. if you are interested to get a sneak peek at his garden.
He will also give a demonstration of How to Divine for Water for interested members

Members will need to B.Y.O. lunch, fold up chair and coffee cup.
Tea coffee and biscuits will be provided by the society for you at morning tea.
This will be a drive yourself day, so perhaps car pooling with friends would be a good idea. I hope to see lots of members both new and old at this field day.
I really thank the people who so generously make their gardens available to us to visit.
You can learn a lot when you see peoples gardens. How they grow their plants, and set out their gardens.

If any new members have any queries they could contact me (Narelle Aizlewood) on o7 55461161 or my mobile on the day is 0418193728.

Now the bus & accomodation are fully booked, no more bookings please.
